Having left for Real Madrid last summer, Kylian Mbappé initiated legal proceedings against PSG for an arrears of more than 55 million euros. The dispute has not been resolved and this could have an impact on the European journey of Parisians.
In all honesty, it is hard to believe in a real sanction. And a huge blow to the table from UEFA vis-à-vis PSG in the coming weeks with terrible sanctions. But as the daily newspaper L'Equipe rightly points out, the facts are there. And the Kylian Mbappé case, who is still demanding more than 55 million euros from his former club (signing bonus, salaries, ethics bonuses) could indeed have real consequences.
Because if the Madrilenian has already brought the matter before the Professional Football League (LFP) and the French Football Federation (FFF), PSG will soon have to be held accountable at the European level due to the very strict regulations of of UEFA regarding “club licensing and financial viability. » Thus, clubs which participate in European competitions must not have debts towards their employees.
It is precisely article 82 of the European body which specifies this. “As of July 15, October 15 and January 15 of the license season, the license beneficiary must not have any arrears of payment (…) to its staff (…) resulting from contractual or legal obligations, due no later than June 30, September 30 and December 31, respectively. » In the case of Mbappé, all the documents in the file have already been transmitted at the end of October, which will allow UEFA to decide calmly from January 15. It remains to be seen whether the European body will take real sanctions. Because as the sports daily also specifies, Nasser Al-Khlelaïfi, the president of PSG, is a member of the UEFA executive committee and president of the ECA, the association of European clubs.
