“They are only buying time”: the Rural Coordination calls for demonstrations in the country, and to “mount on Paris” this Sunday

Although the rural coordination will be received at the Élysée this January 13, the agricultural union is calling for demonstrations throughout France this Sunday, due to a too late date set by the government, according to Le Figaro. In particular, they plan to go to Paris by tractor or car, “the idea is to be there on Sunday afternoon to demonstrate on Monday”announced Patrick Legras, spokesperson for Rural Coordination.

“We are offered a meeting with François Bayrou on Monday January 13. They are making fun of us, they are only buying time. There is no desire to move forward”launched the spokesperson. “We maintain our call to demonstrate, everywhere in France, to go to Paris, by car or tractor. The idea is to be there on Sunday afternoon to demonstrate on Monday.”

Dozens of tractors and vans

“We don’t have an answer coming to us, so we have to go look for it”declared Friday morning the president of the CR, Véronique Le Floc'h among our colleagues at RTL. “What we want are measures that will allow us to continue working without it costing us more”expressed the president of the union, also wishing a “energy shield”. “We would like announcements that would cost the State nothing”she insists.

“We are setting up a system with dozens of tractors, vans or cars to carry out actions to control refrigerated trucks or symbolic punch operations”explained Patrick Legras, before certifying that “it will not be on the strategic barrier of Saint-Arnoult on this day of return from vacation, nor on the ring road”.

All agricultural unions will be received by the new Prime Minister on January 13, who announced that he would receive them “in turn”. This is a “first meeting with organizations to discuss issues and emergencies”according to the government.
