A 56-year-old man, kidnapped Tuesday in Ain as part of a ransom demand, was found tied up in the trunk of a car near Le Mans, the Bourg-en-Bresse prosecutor's office said on Friday. The ransom demand was addressed to his son “to social success known to the general public”prosecutor Karine Malara said in a press release without giving further details. According to several media outlets, he is a cryptocurrency influencer based in Dubai, who regularly posts videos about his earnings.
His parents were kidnapped and tied up Tuesday afternoon at their home in Saint-Genis-Pouilly in Ain, “by several armed individuals, hiding their faces”according to the magistrate’s account. After making a ransom demand, the kidnappers kidnapped the father, who was “violated, doused with gasoline and transported in the trunk of a car, in default of payment of the sum requested”.
Two men on the run
The fifty-year-old was then found several hundred kilometers away, by police officers from the BAC in Le Mans, in the trunk of the car, “violent but without his vital prognosis being compromised”. According to a source close to the case, the police discovered him in the middle of the night in the parking lot of a supermarket.
