Upended schedules, thematic events… Gare du Sud is changing (again) its formula to attract customers to Nice

From the start of the year, we still have to get used to the big changes made to the Gare du Sud concept, led by Méditerraneo.

It starts with schedules. “Like many establishments on the Côte d'Azur, we have decided to review our opening hours to best respond to seasonal activity”announces the group via press release.

Concretely, the Gare du Sud will be open from Wednesday to Sunday inclusive. Weekdays, 5 p.m. to midnight. And it is only on Saturdays and Sundays that the establishment will receive the public all day, from 8 a.m. to midnight. On Mondays and Tuesdays, the doors will remain closed. Be careful, however, there is a subtlety: the IT Trattoria restaurant (located on the cinema side) maintains its usual hours (basically, it is open every day, lunch and dinner). It is better to anticipate because this Wednesday, January 1, 2024, the summer hours in 7/7 mode were still displayed at the main entrance and on the terrace level.

“Happy hour” from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

What to expect from these changes? First, savings. Méditerraneo lures customers with super advantageous rates in happy hour. Follow carefully: from 5 p.m. to 5:44 p.m. sharp, the pint of beer, spritz or soft drink will be at the fixed price of 3.90 euros. But you have to watch the clock because at 5:45 p.m. and until 6:14 p.m., the same drinks cost 4.50 euros. Three quarters of an hour later, repeat: from 6:15 p.m. to 7 p.m., it will cost you 4.50 euros. The objective is clear: attract customers from the opening on weekdays with low prices.

Then, thematic evenings will be offered, starting Wednesday January 8. Wednesday it will be bingo or darts and billiards; Thursday beer pong or karaoke; Friday night Cuban or 80s; Saturday children's day and Sunday pop' musette or salsa ball.

Food-truck le week-end

And on the plate? The novelty will be on weekends with a food truck and daily specials. For example, in January, on Saturdays you will find raclette and Breton pancakes while on Sundays, it will be couscous and parmesan wheel pasta.

Gare du Sud, on the other hand, intends to maintain its sporting spirit and promises to broadcast major matches, all disciplines combined, on big screens.

For game lovers, the brand has two shuffleboards. Behind this anglicism hides a sort of American shuffleboard game. Méditerraneo presents it as “a fun and friendly game of skill, consisting of sliding pucks on a large game table and scoring as many points as possible. For the more traditional, there is always billiards, darts, pinball and other board games to share with family or friends. All these schedule changes were to be put in place this Wednesday 1is January promised the brand in its press release released the day before. It remains to be seen whether the new concept will find its audience.
