the essential
Among the 19 babies born in Toulouse on the night of New Year's 1st, Sacha was the very first. Coming into the world three minutes after midnight, he gave his friends almost no chance of dethroning him.
While a large part of Toulouse was still partying to celebrate the transition to the new year, courageous mothers gave birth on this first night of 2025 in the maternity wards of the Toulouse metropolitan area. In total, no less than 19 new Toulouse residents showed up once the clock struck midnight.
The first of them, Sacha, gave his comrades no chance of being beaten. Coming into the world at the Croix du Sud clinic in Quint-Fonsegrives at three minutes past midnight, the first child of Célie and Nicolas Pelzer, two 30-year-olds from Toulouse, is also the very first baby of the year in Toulouse. History does not officially say it, but taking into account the schedule, it is undoubtedly one of the very first in France in 2025.
“He almost was the last of 2024. Finally, we are happy that he is the first of 2025 and above all that he and his mother are in good health,” smiles his dad. Precisely, for the mother, Célie, the first contractions took place around noon on December 31. After nearly 12 hours of labor, she was able to give birth without difficulty to her son, weighing 3 kg 640 at the first weighing. “We'll buy him the newspaper to prove to him that he was really the first. It's great, it will make memories to share when he's older.”
Closely followed by Léyane
A few minutes apart, his honorary title of first Toulouse player of the year would have escaped him. Indeed, at the maternity ward of Paule-de-Viguier hospital, little Léyane was born at eleven minutes after midnight. In total, in the Toulouse hospital, eight births took place on the night of January 1. This figure makes this maternity hospital where the most babies were born on New Year's Day in the Pink City.
The first to have filled her parents, Céline and Nicolas (definitely), with happiness at 1:06 a.m. at the Joseph-Ducuing hospital, Axelle, 3 kg 650, was followed by four other babies, three of whose first names are known to the time when we write these lines: Gabriel, Taïly and Paul.
At the Ambroise Paré clinic, it was Lorenzo who uttered his first cries at 4:30 in the morning. He was followed by two other little boys, first Noam, then Kassim.
Two births were recorded at the Rive Gauche clinic, at 1:48 a.m. and 7 a.m., while at the L'Union clinic, all the Pitchouns preferred to stay warm in their mothers' wombs, probably for fear of 'catch a cold on this cold and wet night.
To all these little Toulouse residents, La Dépêche du Midi welcomes them home, to the Pink City, a beautiful year, a long life and lots of happiness.
