Patrick Gendraud, president of the Yonne Departmental Council since July 2017

In a press release sent to our editorial staff today, the Departmental Council of Yonne announces the death of President Patrick Gendraud, following a long illness.
Patrick Gendraud fought courageously against cancer, diagnosed in the spring of 2023.
Personally and politically attached to Jacques CHIRAC, elected to the Department of Yonne since 1998, he has chaired the community since July 2017.
He was also a community councilor for Chablis and a municipal councilor for Chablis, his adopted commune, where he was mayor for 17 years.
A man of action and commitment, he never stopped following departmental and local affairs, even during the most trying moments of his treatment.
In accordance with the electoral code, Patrick Gendraud will be replaced in his capacity as departmental councilor of the canton of Chablis by Mr. Philippe Lardin, mayor of Pasilly, who won the 2021 election alongside him.
The permanent commission and the election of the new president of the community will take place within a month. The 1st Vice-President of the Department, Mr. Grégory Dorte, exercises the functions of president in the meantime, according to the provisions provided for in the General Code of Territorial Communities.
L'Indépendant de l'Yonne sends its sincere condolences to his family.
