The drama took place this morning, Wednesday January 1, in the Cité de l'Ill district of Strasbourg (67). Around one o'clock in the morning, a 15-year-old teenager died after being hit by a car, probably a black Clio, which fled, our AFP colleagues learned from police sources.
He was returning from his grandmother's house after celebrating New Year's Eve with his family and was crossing Rue de la Lauch.
Seriously injured, the victim was initially transported to hospital with a life-threatening condition. Despite treatment, she died in hospital during the night.
The driver fled after hitting the teenager. According to witnesses, she was driving at high speed. According to the same police source, the accident occurred outside the context of the urban violence on New Year's Eve. After this hit-and-run, an investigation was opened by the Strasbourg public prosecutor's office.
