Each year, the municipality of Lisieux (Calvados) has the possibility of granting twelve exemptions from Sunday rest for employees. In other words, to authorize the opening of businesses on Sundays. This is what was previously called “Mayor’s Sundays”.
The list established by branch
The list of dates must be finalized before December 31 for the following year. The municipal council therefore voted for it on December 16, 2024. “It is established by branch, and after advice from employer and employee organizations” specified Vincent Othon, deputy mayor in charge of commercial attractiveness.
The main targeted events
No change for 2025. The City of Lisieux has targeted the main events linked to commerce, such as the winter and summer sales, the CAP Lisieux clearance sale, the two flea markets of merchant associations, Black Friday or the Christmas markets in the city center and Hauteville.
