Premeditated act, or childish and dangerous “game”? This is the question that occupies the Essonne police after the report of shots fired against the official accommodation of a CPE (senior education advisor) in Juvisy-sur-Orge, this Sunday, February 29. No one was hurt. The perpetrator(s) are on the run and wanted.
It was around 9:30 p.m. when the shots rang out in front of the Ferdinand-Buisson college, rue Carnot. The 31-year-old young woman was then at her home located within the premises of the establishment, which adjoins the public road, with her two children. His partner smokes a cigarette on the courtyard side at the foot of this two-story stone building. It's dark, the street is quiet.
Serial shootings
“We heard a series of clicks, it was three sharp blows: Tac ! Tac ! Tac ! relates this neighbor in his thirties. My wife thought of firecrackers, but it didn't really look like that…” Other residents will mention “five shots” heard in a row. The Juvisy police station is a stone's throw away, the police arrive quickly on site. The shooter(s), who opened fire from rue Carnot, disappeared.
Then begins the investigative work of the agents. A first warhead is found on the sidewalk: it appears to be the remains of a 9 mm cartridge. In the family living room, a bullet stuck in the sofa. According to initial findings, this bullet would have passed through the metal shutter, then the double glazing, before ending up in the furniture, suggesting a large caliber weapon.
“The weapon used is not yet known, as is the motive,” said the public prosecutor of Évry-Courcouronnes, Grégoire Dulin. The prosecution decided to open an investigation into the facts of “attempted assassination”, which would imply a premeditated action. But this qualification could change depending on the outcome of the investigation. No suspects have been arrested at this stage. DCOS 91 (Organized Crime Division) is leading the investigations.
Random gesture?
Because, as the Versailles rectorate clarifies, “no threat weighed on this educational advisor, nor on the establishment as a whole”. This is confirmed by a source close to the matter: “We do not know if it was the CPE which was expressly targeted. And there is no indication that the perpetrator(s) knew that this accommodation was occupied, or whether it was in fact a home. »
In this sense, these nighttime shootings against National Education housing could very well find their origin in a random gesture against a facade, committed by one or more individuals. “We have already seen it elsewhere,” notes a police source.
A matter taken “very seriously”
The education advisor from the Ferdinand-Buisson college had worked there for several years and occupied this official accommodation with her family. Sunday evening then Monday, she received support from those responsible for academic services. “Functional protection (his) will be granted within 24 hours, completes the Versailles rectorate. The DSDEN (Directorate of Departmental National Education Services) of Essonne is working with the departmental council and the Île-de-France region to consider a rehousing solution and ensure housing security. » At the same time, psychological support will be made available for the victim, as well as at the start of the school year next Monday.
Despite doubts about the exact origin of these shots, “we take this matter very seriously,” says prefect Frédérique Camilleri. I assure you (the CPE, Editor’s note) of my full support in the face of this unspeakable act. I hope that the investigation will quickly identify the perpetrators and the reasons for these shootings. » The prefect of Essonne plans to go to the college on Monday evening to show her “support for the victims”.
