The suspect in the shooting in a bar in Ajaccio on Monday was indicted for murder and intentional violence, Bleu RCFM learned on Friday December 27. While in police custody, the 41-year-old man, Anthony Padovani, admitted to being the author of the shootings which left one dead and six injured at the Lamparo bar.

The shooting broke out shortly after 11 p.m., when several hundred people were in the establishment. A 33-year-old man died at Ajaccio hospital shortly afterwards as a result of his injuries.

As of Tuesday, the Ajaccio public prosecutor had mentioned “a private dispute, which occurred within the establishment, between the perpetrator of the shooting and the deceased victim”.

The suspect then took himself prisoner on Wednesday December 25, around 6 p.m. Already known to the police, he was heard on Friday evening by the liberty and detention judge who will have to rule on his possible placement in pre-trial detention.
