A wintry weather pattern will continue Friday night, according to forecasters, with a chance of freezing rain prompting the National Weather Service to issue a winter weather advisory for the area.
The advisory includes Lehigh and Northampton counties and will be in effect from 7 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday. During this time, forecasters say light precipitation could freeze on road surfaces and sidewalks, resulting in an icy glaze that could be treachorous for travelers.
“Be prepared for slippery roads,” the NWS said Thursday. “Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.”
The advisory also includes the southern Poconos and parts of northern New Jersey.
Whatever ice accumulates should melt quickly, as temperatures Saturday are forecast to rise into the low 40s, with highs in the 50s expected Sunday and Monday.
