Worst suspicion: great concern for national players

Concern for Leipzig's Benjamin Henrichs: The national player went down in injury time of the game at FC Bayern (1:5) without any outside influence. Henrichs had apparently put his right foot on the grass.

Teammates and opponents were immediately there and asked the right-back. Paramedics were also immediately there with a stretcher. Henrichs remained lying on the grass for several minutes, covering his face with his hands.

After referee Daniel Siebert's final whistle, the players formed a circle around Henrichs. The 27-year-old was eventually taken away on a stretcher. The first suspicion was: Achilles tendon rupture.

Henrichs “may have a serious ankle injury,” said RB coach Marco Rose after the game DAZN-Microphone. Given the impact of the attack in Magdeburg, he hardly wanted to comment on the game itself. “Yes, we lost big. Yes, we deserved to lose. But there are completely other things that are more important right now.”

Leipzig's sports director Marcel Schäfer feared a long-term loss for the right-back. “We have all seen that this is not a matter of two or three weeks, but in all likelihood a serious injury,” said Schäfer.

He announced that RB wanted to think about a possible replacement during the winter break. “We have to see how we might react to Benny’s failure. This is obviously something we need to discuss.”

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany also asked about Henrich's well-being on the pitch. His DFB teammate Joshua Kimmich also felt for Henrichs: “I hope he wasn't as badly injured as it looked.”
