Little by little his positions become more radical. On American anti-Islam sites, he pleads for the closure of borders and denounces German migration policy. Since the summer of 2024, he has fueled conspiracy theories, claiming the existence of an alleged plan by German authorities to persecute Saudi refugees. This conspiratorial rhetoric marks a turning point in his speech: his hatred against Islam now seems to encompass the Germans themselves.
This alarming behavior tragically culminated on December 20, 2024, when he deliberately crashed into people at the Christmas market in Magdeburg, causing the death of two people and injuring 68 others. A few minutes before the attack, he published videos where he accused the German police of persecuting him and blamed citizens for his misfortune, while talking about his imminent death.
The investigation, still ongoing, will have to clarify the exact motivations for his action. What is already emerging is a troubling mix of fanatical anti-Islam activism and a fascination with the far right, leading to multifaceted radicalization. Taleb A., once perceived as a committed activist, today appears as a man consumed by uncontrolled hatred, both towards his origins and the country which welcomed him.
