The new Prime Minister, François Bayrou, gives satisfaction to 36% of French people, a rate significantly lower than that experienced by his three predecessors when they took office at Matignon, according to an Ifop poll for Sud Radio published on Thursday.

Michel Barnier and Gabriel Attal respectively received 52% and 53% satisfaction in the days following their appointment as head of government. Upon her arrival, in May 2022, Élisabeth Borne met with 47% favorable opinions. François Bayrou is also perceived as “open to dialogue” by a majority of 55% of those questioned, 6 points less than Michel Barnier when he took office in September.

Likewise, it is not judged “friendly” that by 49% of respondents (11 points less than its predecessor), “competent” by 44% (18 points less), it “inspires confidence” for 38% (10 points less), “has authority” for 36% (23 points less), is “capable of bringing the French together” for 35% (15 points less) and “is capable of reforming the country» for 32% (18 points less). Two thirds of those questioned also believe that the new tenant of Matignon “will be quickly censored in the National Assembly», a slightly weaker prediction than for Michel Barnier in September (74%).
