Lucas Chevalier shared his incomprehension on Wednesday after the lack of sanction against Wilfried Singo despite his big sole on Gianluigi Donnarumma’s face. The Lille goalkeeper questioned the controversial decision of the referee in the Monaco-PSG clash.
A decision which questions as much as it arouses controversy. At the whistle during the duel between Monaco and PSG (2-4) this Wednesday in the advanced match of the 16th day of League 1, François Letexier decided not to sanction Wilfried Singo after his big sole on the face Gianluigi Donnarumma .

A decision that does not go over well with Lucas Chevalier. In a message published on his social networks, the Lille goalkeeper quickly reacted after this important match event.
“No red”, asked the Dogues goalkeeper, completing his question with several doubtful or even blasé emoticons after a new controversial arbitration decision this season.
Ten staples on Donnarumma’s cheek
Lucas Chevalier’s exit against the arbitration, as measured as it may be, can be understood as the shock seemed impressive on television. And probably even more so for a goalkeeper who could very well have found himself in the place of ‘Gigio’ Donnarumma in such an action.
Left injured, replaced by the Russian Matvey Safonov and quickly taken care of in the locker rooms of the Stade Louis-II, the Italian had to have ten staples placed on his right cheek. Victim of “facial trauma with multiple wounds” according to the first medical report published by PSG after the match, Gianluigi Donnarumma will have to undergo additional examinations and observe several days of rest.
An interpretation of the regulation favorable to Singo?
But if the absence of sanction for Wilfried Singo provoked such a strong reaction from Lucas Chevalier or other actors and observers of Ligue 1 like Marquinhos or Daniel Riolo, we can find an explanation for François Letexier’s decision.
If the central referee did not appear at the broadcaster’s microphone to justify himself, the laws of the game of the Ifab (International Football Association Board) distinguish between a “reckless attitude” and a “reckless attitude”. And obviously, for the official, the sole of the Monegasque defender was judged as reckless by François Letexier.
“We speak of a reckless attitude when a player competes for the ball without attention, consideration or precaution,” details paragraph 12.1 of the IFAB regulations. An interpretation which therefore avoided a second yellow card or even a direct red to Wilfried Singo but which will perhaps lead to an a posteriori analysis by the DTA to analyze more clearly this fact of play which marked the minds and the figure of Donnarumma.
