This year traffic will be heavy in the days leading up to the holidays. “The traffic jams should be very important [autour des métropoles]mainly in the afternoon,” according to the public service.

Beware of those who get behind the wheel for the Christmas holidays. Bison Futé anticipates traffic difficulties in the coming days: they should begin this Friday, the last day of classes in schools in . “Family gatherings as well as vacation departures are at the origin of a large number of trips scattered throughout the national territory”adds the public service, which specifies that the “trips will be dispersed throughout the territory”. Le Figaro takes stock of the period around December 24, during which “the traffic jams should be very important [autour des métropoles]mainly in the afternoon”.

Ce Friday December 20traffic will be heavy in the direction of departures and “all roads should be very busy”announces Bison Futé. The whole of France will be classified in orange, indicating circulation «difficile»and Île-de-France will be in red. If you take the car on Friday, traffic will be very busy towards the Alps, the Mediterranean coast or on the motorways serving border countries (A1, A25, A31 and A35).

In Île-de-France, the first slowdowns will be observed “from late morning” and should continue until “early evening”with a notable attendance “towards the various toll gates”. “The North-South transit (A3, A86 and A6B) will concentrate the main traffic difficulties”. The junctions of the A6 and A10 motorways as well as the Boulevard Périphérique will be affected as a priority.

No difficulty is expected, however, in the direction of returns.

Saturday December 21, the main slowdowns should take place in Île-de-France in the direction of departures. They will begin mid-morning and end around noon. Elsewhere, as in the other direction, no slowdown is expected.

Finally, Tuesday December 24the first traffic difficulties will be observed at the end of the morning in the direction of departures in Île-de-France and will continue until the early evening. In question: “the combination of numerous trips linked to the Christmas holidays, daily journeys to work and travel”. The public service suggests that users leave the region before 10 a.m., and avoid driving there afterward.
