PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) – Happy Tuesday, Pine Belt!
Today marks the third day in a row with rain in the region, and the rain today could bring a few occasional rumbles of thunder with it. Areas of locally heavy rain are possible at times.
Temperatures will inch upward slightly from their current mark until peaking around 75 degrees in the early afternoon. Rain is likely for the first half of the day, but will become more spotty by the afternoon hours.
Once the rain concludes in the evening hours, we will see clearing skies overnight as the cold front passes over the Pine Belt. This means that we will see temperatures falling quickly. Low temperatures will be chilly at sunrise tomorrow morning at 40 degrees.
Tomorrow will be abundantly sunny with a mild afternoon high of 55. An overnight freeze is possible for some Wednesday night into early Thursday.
Thursday will be similar to Wednesday with mainly sunny skies and an afternoon high of 57 degrees. Thursday night will be cold with temperatures likely a few degrees above freezing. Some may see frost during this period.
Friday should bring a noticeable increase in cloud cover with a comfortable high near 61. Friday night will be cool with a low near 47.
Saturday is when spotty rain chances return to the picture, and details are limited at this time. Preliminary data indicates that these could be showers only similar to this past weekend’s rain.
Highs could be in the upper 60’s during next weekend with lows in the upper 40’s.
