The city of Marrakech will host the “CAF Awards” ceremony on Monday 16 December, an event that celebrates the extraordinary performances of African football figures, both at club and national team level.
The 54 Foot magazine will be distributed in Marrakech to coincide with the ceremony, which will begin at 7pm. Designed exclusively for the 54 African federations, it highlights the leaders of African football and honors their key role in the development of the sport on the continent.
In particular, the Moroccan stars competing for the 2024 CAF Awards aim to inscribe their names in golden letters in the annals of continental football.
Leading the list of Moroccan candidates for the 2024 CAF Awards is PSG right-back Achraf Hakimi, who is in contention for the Player of the Year title after an exceptional season. Hakimi played a crucial role in the Olympic team’s achievement of a historic bronze medal at the 2024 Olympic Games and particularly shone with the senior national team during the qualifiers for the AFCON 2025, which will take place in Morocco, in addition to his successes with PSG in the championship and the Coupe de France.

In addition to Hakimi, who has previously played for Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan, the list of contenders for the Player of the Year trophy includes Simon Adingra (Ivory Coast), who plays for Brighton in England , the Guinean Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund), the Nigerian Ademola Lookman (Atalanta Bergamasca) and Ronwen Williams, goalkeeper of Mamelodi Sundowns and the national team South African.

As for the women’s sector, Morocco is well represented, especially with AS FAR striker and national team member Sanaa Mssoudy in the running for the Player of the Year award, along with Zambian Barbra Banda and Nigerian Giocaka Nnadozie.
As Best Player of the Women’s Champions League (Morocco 2024), Mssoudy played a fundamental role in AS FAR’s qualification to the final of this continental competition.
Mssoudy is also nominated for the Interclub Player of the Year title, alongside her military club teammate, Doha El Madani, who is the Champions League top scorer with six goals. The latter is also among the nominees for the Young Player of the Year title, while their teammate Khadija Er-Rmichi is in the running for the Goalkeeper of the Year award.
Among those nominated for the title of Coach of the Year are two Moroccans: Mohamed Amine Alioua, who was a finalist in the last Women’s Champions League with AS FAR, and Lamia Boumehdi, who led Congolese TP Mazembe to the title in this competition for the first time in its history.

Both the Moroccan national team and AS FAR are competing for the titles of Women’s National Team of the Year and Women’s Club of the Year, respectively.
The 2024 CAF Awards cover the period from January to October of the same year.
The winners of each category will be decided by votes from the CAF technical committee, media professionals, coaches and captains of the member associations, as well as the clubs participating in the group stage of the interclub competitions.
