Since yesterday evening and until this Thursday evening, farmers are once again on our roads to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with the Mercosur treaty.
The agricultural world has been raising its voice since last night on several important points of our road network, you could even come across them this morning. As at the start of the year during their first demonstrations, farmers have therefore decided to block several points on our roads, mainly at the borders.
There are around ten action points and more than 500 tractors in total are present on our roads to remind us that the “Mercosur” agreement will jeopardize their production. “The tractors are located at strategic points on our road network, such as Eupen, Chimay, Hensies, Couvin or Visé. At each of these blockages, around fifty tractors are found“, explains our journalist present on site, at the blockade of Hensies, in Hainaut.
As a safety measure, the police preferred to completely block the roads, rather than creating filter barriers as the farmers originally wanted. “Signs announce 30 kilometers before the dam that the French border is closed. Normally, there will be very little impact for motorists and on the French side, there is simply no one, the tractors have left the scene.
These farmers, always very motivated, intend to stay until this evening.
