For 2h30, and without taking a break, the former Beatles set the stage of the -La Défense Arena on fire by performing 36 songs from his repertoire.

Triumphant return for Paul McCartney. The ex-Beatles, who had not performed in for six years, lit up the stage of the Paris-La Défense Arena on Wednesday evening by performing 36 songs from his repertoire as part of his tour Got Back.

For 2h30, without taking a break, “Macca”, 82 years old, delighted the 41,000 spectators. The singer started his concert with a Beatles hit, Can’t Buy Me Lovebefore continuing with two Wings titles, Animal’s Farm et Letting Go.

“Hello France. It’s good to be back,” exclaimed the singer at the start of his concert, quoted by Le Parisien. “I’m going to try to speak a little French to you this evening,” he also promised. “Whatever happens, I think we’re going to have a good time.”

Tribute to John Lennon

For this singing tour, “Sir Paul” drew on the repertoire of the Beatles, Wings but also his solo albums. On the program are hits like Michelle, Baby I’m Amazed, Blackbird, Band On The Run, Get Back, Live and Let Die, Let It Be et Hey Jude.

He also paid tribute to his two Beatles accomplices John Lennon and George Harrison. For Lennon he sang Here Todaya piece written after his death. And for Harrison, he took over Somethingone of his hits composed during the Beatles era.

Paul McCartney also paid tribute to his wife by performing one of her recent hits, My Valentine. “I wrote this song for my wonderful wife Nancy. She's with us tonight. This song is for you.”

“Best concert ever”

The singer also surprised the public by resuming Now and Thena song written by John Lennon in the 1970s and completed last year with the help of artificial intelligence.

McCartney was performing as part of his “Got Back” world tour. A nod to Get backoriginal name of the project for which the Beatles entered the studio in London in January 1969.

Launched in 2022 in the United States, this tour has been particularly acclaimed. In 2022, Paul McCartney played 16 concerts in the United States and another, given at Glastonbury, was called “the best concert ever”.
