UThis time is not customary… What if, next summer, it was at Vieilles Charrues that we found our happiness? At a time when the big festivals are lifting the veil, one after the other, on their programming, the least predictable poster surprisingly comes from Carhaix, rather than Belfort (les Eurockéennes) or Arras (Mainsquare). Not that the Breton gathering deviates from the now generalized rule of the musical catch-all casting the widest possible net, but how can we not be surprised when discovering the Sex Pistols as the head of the gondola? Without Johnny Rotten-Lydon, of course – definitely estranged with his ex-enemy brothers –, but with a very invested Frank Carter to take over, with Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock, the titles of the indestructible Never Mind the Bollocks. According to witnesses to their last London performance, the energy and rage were there. It's worth an Oasis reunion, right?
Moreover, in addition to the Kills and the Viagra Boys to expand the rock offering, another big name (we almost forgot it), in a certainly different register, is making a comeback for the occasion: Alanis Morissette. For the rest, nothing to report that really stands out from the crowd – even if of quality for some –, present in almost all the gatherings (Zaho de Sagazan, Philippe Katerine, Damso, Last Train, Kompromat…). Obviously, we can salivate over these tempting posters from across the Channel, more targeted, like this show in Glasgow (June 21) bringing together, around the Pistols, the Stranglers, the Buzzcocks, the Skids and the Rezillos!
From July 17 to 20 in Carhaix-Plouguer (29). Tickets on sale from December 3 at 7 p.m., from €52.
