ATLANTA (AP) – C.J. McCollum’s game-high 29 points went for naught Monday (Dec. 2), as the Pelicans fell to 1-11 on the road with a 124-112 loss to the Hawks in Atlanta.
McCollum’s scoring output was one point shy of his season high, but wasn’t enough to stave off New Orleans’ ninth consecutive loss. The Pelicans are 4-18 overall, the worst record in the NBA’s Western Conference.
Dejounte Murray was greeted by cheers in his first return to Atlanta since being traded by the Hawks last offseason. Murray finished with seven points and 10 assists, but made only 2 of 15 shots from the floor, including 1 of 7 from three-point range.
Trae Young led Atlanta with 12 points and 15 assists for his 15th double-double of the season, as the Hawks tallied their fourth straight victory. De’Andre Hunter scored a team-high 22 for the Hawks on his 27th birthday.
The Pelicans return home Thursday for a 7 p.m. game against the Phoenix Suns.
