With Roberto De Zerbi at the helm, OM had a better start against the big Ligue 1 clubs.
Olympique de Marseille faced AS Monaco last Sunday for the 13e day of Ligue 1. A shock which turned in favor of the Phocaeans who won with a score of 2 goals to 1. A very important victory for Roberto De Zerbi who confirmed their good form against the big clubs in the French championship.
De Zerbi's OM leaves Ligue 1 big names no chance
The long-awaited turning point has finally arrived for OM. Before hosting Monaco on Sunday, the Marseille club had won only one of these five matches played at the Vélodrome (2 draws, 2 defeats). The sixth was therefore the good one for Olympique de Marseille who were able to count on goals from Luis Henrique and Mason Greenwood to pocket their second victory of the season at home. But in addition to the relief found at the Vélodrome, Roberto De Zerbi's men confirmed that they were the bane of the big Ligue 1 teams during the current year. OM have, in fact, won four of their five matches against the Top 7 in Ligue 1 this season. Before the ASM, the Olympian club won against Olympique Lyonnais (2-3), OGC Nice (2-0) as well as RC Lens (1-3). Paris Saint-Germain is the only Top team to beat Olympique de Marseille this season in the French Championship Classic (0-3).

Figures which confirm the impressive form of the Phocaeans against the big guys. A form that OM hopes to demonstrate much more of during its home matches for the rest of the season. “I hope this is the start of an important story at the Vélodrome. It was a shame that we couldn't express ourselves at home. We had a mental block, which did not allow us to play calmly and lucidly. There was a fear of doing wrong and it's difficult to play like that. It's hard to explain, but I think we weren't ourselves.”confided Roberto De Zerbi after the victory against Monaco on Sunday.
