Global phenomenon, the series Wednesdayabout the gloomy Addams girl, will return in 2025 for a particularly anticipated and dark second season.
The production of season 2 of Wednesdayone of Netflix's biggest hits, has officially ended in Ireland, as announced by the platform's news site. If the latter follows a schedule similar to that of the first season, broadcast in November 2022, the new episodes could arrive at the same time in 2025. However, an advanced release, from summer or early fall, in next September, remains possible, according to the usual post-production deadlines.
For this new chapter, Jenna Ortega reprises her emblematic role of Wednesday Addams, surrounded by the zany members of her family, more highlighted, and her little classmates like Enid. The cast is also enriched with prestigious new faces, including Steve Buscemi and Thandiwe Newton. A persistent rumor also mentions the participation of Lady Gaga, seen briefly on the set. With a plot announced as darker and more horror-oriented, this season intends to stand out by abandoning romantic subplots to explore “more daring“, as Ortega revealed to Variety. Cousin Machin, Purbert or even Grandma Addams could be there.
An initiatory story in the darkness
The first season of Wednesday had shattered records by becoming the most watched English series on Netflix. With 12 Emmy Award nominations and four wins, notably for its costumes and visual design, the series had won over a global audience, fueling a true cultural phenomenon. Its resounding success quickly led to the announcement of renewal in January 2023. Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar were delighted to continue “Wednesday's tortuous journey“in a universe that they describe as”sinister and captivating“.
Finally, the specialized site What’s on Netflix has suggested that a third season could already be in preparation, reinforcing the idea that the saga of Wednesday Addams is set to settle permanently on the platform.
