Qatar, Champions Trophy… Monegasque ultras denounce the censorship of several banners at the Vélodrome

The AS Monaco ultras had planned to release two messages hostile to Qatar and the Champions Trophy on the sidelines of their team's defeat in , Sunday evening, at the end of the thirteenth day of Ligue 1 (2-1). But the Monegasque supporters claim to have been prevented from doing so by the police present at the Vélodrome.

Two large white banners with incisive texts written in black letters. The AS Monaco ultras had planned to express their hostility towards the state of Qatar, owner of PSG, during their team's defeat in Marseille on Sunday evening, at the end of the thirteenth day of Ligue 1 (2- 1). In their sights, in particular: the programming of the next Champions Trophy between Monaco and on January 5 in Doha.

In order to express their dissatisfaction, the supporters of the Principality club planned to display two messages during the meeting in the visitors' parking lot of the Vélodrome. “Qatar is killing French football” and “TDC: send the U13s”, to invite their leaders to boycott the Champions Trophy. But they claim to have been prevented from doing so by the police present on site.

“Even in Marseille, Qatari censorship works”

“Although validated in advance by the ASM and the OM, the police prohibited these two messages at the time of the search at the entrance to the parking lot”, explain on X the Ultras Monaco 1994, who posed with their banners in the stadium corridors. “Even in Marseille, Qatari censorship works, through state representatives. Qatar is killing French football… with the complicity of the state.”

A rant relayed with an ironic message by the National Association of Supporters: “We are scandalized by these banners. We ask you not to retweet them. It is not acceptable that supporters allow themselves to believe that They benefit from freedom of expression. Please do not retweet them.
