The top Bundesliga game between Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern will take place next Saturday. BVB captain Emre Can has big goals.
Dortmund/Munich – Emre Can formulated Borussia Dortmund’s ambitions at his club’s general meeting before the classic against FC Bayern. “We are a power at home, we don’t need to hide,” said the BVB captain.
Confident in his own strength, the former FCB young player announced with a view to the upcoming Bundesliga home game (Saturday, 6:30 p.m.): “We will play to win.”
But: Can himself is also suspended for the game against his former club after being sent off in Mainz on the 10th Bundesliga matchday.
Very strong BVB at home
After the 11th matchday, the two arch-rivals are separated by a whopping ten points in the table. The big gap is solely due to Dortmund’s weakness away from home. While coach Nuri Şahin’s team won all six home games (18:6 goals), they have only picked up a single point in five attempts away from home.

“It will be a sensational game, the fans are always happy to be in the stadium when Bayern come,” said BVB national player Julian Brandt Sky: “We had a very bad home game against Bayern last year, but managed to win away again after many years. And now we’re concentrating on winning the home game against Bayern again.”
Brandt remembers this quite correctly: After FCB had outclassed its classic rivals in their living room 4-0, not least thanks to three goals from Harry Kane, BVB took revenge in the second leg in Munich against Bayern, who were completely indisposed at the time, with 2 :0.
Bayern are the best away team in the Bundesliga
Whether BVB can actually win a Bundesliga home game against Bayern again after more than six years (since then four FCB wins and one draw) depends of course on the form of the sovereign front-runner in the German top flight.
Because Vincent Kompany’s team is by far the best away team this season: five wins and a draw against the current second-place team in Frankfurt, which could have easily ended 7-2 for FCB instead of 3-3. Munich’s away goal difference of 23:6 goals is even more impressive than BVB’s at home.
Before the top Bundesliga game, both teams still have to play in the Champions League during the week: the record champions at home against PSG on Tuesday, BVB against Dinamo in Zagreb on Wednesday.
