PSG face the Bayern Munich this Tuesday (9 p.m. on Canal +). A match that could not be more important for the European future of the capital club. On the sidelines of this meeting, Fabian Ruiz confided in our German colleagues from BILD. Selected extracts.
What comes to mind when you think of Germany?
“It is inevitable to remember everything I experienced with my national team this summer. That's why Germany will always be a special place for me. It’s a great feeling to go back there. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Praise and esteem during Euro 2024
“During the tournament and after, people talked about me a lot more than usual, that’s true. This warmth feels good. But for me it's not so important whether I'm underestimated or not. I don't think that's the case. But I just think I'll do my best to help my team anyway. If I can do it, I'll be happy. This was the mentality we had in the Spanish national team during the European Championships. And this is also an important reason for our success”
A return to Germany with a new PSG without Messi, Neymar and Mbappé
“We have a new strength, and that is the way we work together as a team and the spirit we have in the team as a result. Now everyone on the team is equally important. This is a crucial element of the philosophy of our coach Luis Enrique, whose ideas are becoming more and more visible.”
PSG which now relies on youth. Bradley Barcola or even Joao Neves…
“PSG brought in a lot of talented new players, not just the two mentioned. They help us a lot: not only thanks to their great footballing qualities, but also because they have brought a lot of new hunger to our team. Our team is really excited to continue to grow and create something historic with this club.”
The Champions League remains a goal?
“We know that we have to continue to grow together as a team and that there are many strong teams in Europe who want to win everything. But we are convinced that we can win it all. So why not dream of winning the Champions League this year? But we are aware that we absolutely have to beat Bayern to be able to continue dreaming…”.
This match against Bayern Munich, a final?
” It's true. For us, this match is a final! So far we have not achieved the results in the Champions League that we wanted and expected from ourselves. To progress to the knockout stage, we now need to win all our remaining matches in the league stage.”

Changes at Bayern Munich with the arrival of Vincent Kompany
“Bayern already had a great team back then. Now they have also made some good signings. We know that Bayern will put a lot of pressure on us and that the atmosphere in German stadiums is always spectacular. It will be very hard, but these are exactly the matches that we like at PSG.”
How to beat Bayern Munich?
“First of all, we have to approach the match as we would in a real final. Then it’s about avoiding mistakes. When 22 players with such exceptional qualities compete against each other, every small mistake is usually punished immediately – in every phase of the game. So we need to keep Bayern's most dangerous players like Kane and Musiala out of our penalty area and at the same time play our own offensive game at the highest level possible.”
Long-term goals for Fabian Ruiz
“I don't like to set long-term goals. For me, it's about playing at the highest level possible every day. Then the titles and trophies will come naturally. But it’s no secret, it would be an absolute childhood dream for me to win the Champions League with PSG and the World Cup with Spain.”
