Monica Bellucci is starring in the France 2 mini-series, the first episode of which is broadcast this Tuesday, November 26: That’s Paris! alongside Alex Lutz and Nicolas Maury. The pitch is as follows: Gaspard Berthille is the manager of Tout-Paris, an emblematic Parisian cabaret. But unlike his father, Dary, former manager and legendary revue leader, Gaspard has not succeeded in maintaining the success of the establishment.
The Italian actress plays a revue leader, a little unusual at first, since she doesn't know how to dance or sing.… Guest of C to you this Monday evening, Monica Bellucci said more about her role and the valuable help she received from Kamel Ouali.
Monica Bellucci can do it all
As footage from the film shows Monica Bellucci dancing in the film, Patrick Cohen comments: “You are a deliberately disastrous revue leader (…), we see you dancing pitifully, rehearsals that horrify everyone“, before showing another sequence, “the force of the comic trio” with Alex Lutz and Nicolas Maury.
The character of Nicolas Maury, desperate, wishes “turn, it's an anvil, she gesticulates.” Back on set, Vincent Cassel's ex-wife declared: “II really have to thank Kamel Ouali“, since the former dance teacher of the Star Academy and choreographer taught him how to – well – dance for the filming. “Afterwards I have to dance well and for me, it was a big responsibility because I dance with so many responsibilities and so many exceptional dancers. I had to be careful because if I was wrong everyone had to stop, we had to start again. It's incredible because when we dance, we have no text and your body remembers everything, it's another way of existing. It's very difficult, it's not my job to sing, to dance and there, I did both.” she explains.
Contrary to what one might encounter, “dancing badly is complicated” admits Monica Bellucci. She assures that she was neither inspired nor made fun of anyone to provide such performances. “They helped me, they helped me do everything.” Alex Lutz even explains that sometimes the team asked him to dance even worse because “everything was gracious.”
