A truck trailer overturned under the influence of strong winds, leading to a closure of the highway and major traffic jams.
Storm Bert caused an impressive accident this Monday, November 25, 2024, shortly after 10 a.m., on the A47 near Ternay, in the Rhône. The trailer of a heavy goods vehicle traveling towards Lyon lay across the tracks, probably due to the powerful gusts currently sweeping the region, placed on orange alert.
The scene took place after the Givors bridge, near the Chasse-sur-Rhône exit. The motorway was closed in the Saint-Étienne-Lyon direction, causing kilometers of traffic jams on this busy route.
Faced with dangerous weather conditions, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes prefecture had also banned any overtaking maneuver for trucks weighing more than 7.5 tonnes on national roads and motorways in the Rhône department, a measure in force since midnight and until the end of the orange alert.
