Greater Cairo is witnessing unstable weather today, Sunday, as a statement from the General Meteorological Authority expects light to medium rain of varying intensity in various areas, with a noticeable drop in temperatures, with the highest reaching 22 degrees Celsius and the lowest reaching 15 degrees.
Rain and active winds throughout the day
The Meteorological Authority reported that the country is affected by a depression centered on the Mediterranean Sea, which leads to wind activity throughout, increasing the feeling of cold weather.
The winds also blow sand and dust over exposed areas, especially in South Sinai and the south of the country.
The statement pointed to the disruption of maritime navigation in the Mediterranean and Red Seas and the Gulf of Suez, where the height of waves in the Mediterranean Sea ranges between 4 and 5 metres, which completely disrupts maritime activities.
Today's temperature forecast:
- Greater Cairo: Greater 22 and Lesser 15.
- Alexandria: Greater 19 and Lesser 14.
- Matrouh: The largest is 20 and the smallest is 15.
- Sohag: the largest 28 and the smallest 14.
- Qena: Greater 29 and Lesser 15.
- Aswan: Greater 28 and smaller 15.
Warnings and advice
Manar Ghanem, a member of the media center at the General Meteorological Authority, warned about today’s weather, noting that air masses coming from Europe via the Mediterranean Sea are contributing to the colder weather. She confirmed:
- It is necessary to wear heavy clothes.
- Stay away from exposed areas during wind activity.
- Avoid marine activities due to turbulent waves.
Despite the chances of rain in the northern regions tomorrow, Ghanem explained that the weather conditions will not affect the course of daily life.
