3 is broadcasting this Sunday evening the first episode of season 13 of “Enquêtes de Véra”. New episodes marked by change since Kenny Doughty, aka Aiden Healy, is no longer in the detective series.

Véra's investigations are making their comeback this Sunday, November 24 from 9:05 p.m. on France 3 during the broadcast of season 13, which will be marked by change.

In this new burst of episodes, Vera (Brenda Blethyn) reunites with her former sergeant Joe Ashworth (David Leon), who has now become an inspector.

He was sent to assess Vera's unit as part of new police procedures, but decides to return to service with her, in order to be able to take care of his father placed in a retirement home.

The reasons behind Kenny Doughty's departure

In this season 13, Vera will once again have to team up with Joe Ashworth, her partner during seasons 1 to 4, who returns in Vera's Investigations after 10 years of absence to replace the void left by Kenny Doughty.

The latter, who played Aiden Healy since season 5, had in fact made the decision to leave at the end of season 12. In an interview given to RadioTimesthe actor explained that he had made the decision even before filming season 12, in order to embark on new projects.

Many personal and professional reasons pushed me to move on”, explained the actor. “I loved playing in Véra's Investigations, 100%. This job has changed my life in many ways.”

Nine years have passed since I filmed my first episode in 2014. I wanted to leave while I was happy with what I was doing. The decision to leave was very difficult to make, because I loved doing this work and I loved working with everyone on the Vera Investigations team..”

Kenny Doughty will soon be starring in the series Au Pair, alongside David Suchet, the iconic interpreter of Hercule Poirot, but also in Wax Fruit, a historical drama set in Glasgow.
