The White and Reds are guaranteed participation in next year's European Championships. We are the co-host of EuroBasket 2025. But we still take part in the qualifications, in accordance with the regulations. And everyone in the country is counting on the good attitude of Poles.
We didn't see anything like that on Thursday in Włocławek, when Estonia triumphed 82:78. However, Polish basketball players took revenge on Sunday in Tallinn.
It was also tense, and everything was decided right at the finish. This time, the White and Reds were better in the end, winning the fourth quarter 26:23 and the entire match 88:86.
The key things in Sunday's match were mainly done by Michał Michalak and Mateusz Ponitka. The former scored as if inspired, scoring as many as 29 points. The team captain added 27 points and collected eight balls. Luke Petrasek also scored important free throws at the end.
This is the first defeat for Estonia, which had a 3-0 record in EuroBasket qualifying before this match. The hosts had 21 points from point guard Kristian Kullamae to no avail.
