Six departments have been placed on orange alert due to an episode of violent winds, Météo- announced on Sunday, November 24. Saône-et-Loire, Allier, Puy-de-Dôme, Loire, Rhône and Haute-Loire will experience strong gusts during the day on Monday, linked to the Bert depression. “Uncertainty still exists regarding a geographical extension of the phenomenon”underlines the forecaster, with strong gusts which may affect the departments neighboring those placed in orange and in particular northern Isère. An extension of the orange vigilance is not completely excluded at this stage.”

The Pyrénées-Atlantiques department had already been placed on orange alert for Sunday. “Uncertainty persists about the reliefspecifies the forecaster, with a resumption of a strong southerly wind during the night from Sunday to Monday. Thus, orange vigilance could be extended “in this department”. Storm Bert hit the United Kingdom and Ireland on Saturday, bringing strong winds, heavy rain and heavy snow, disrupting transport and leaving tens of thousands of homes without electricity.
