This Sunday, during the Las Vegas GP, Max Verstappen finished ahead of Lando Norris and therefore won his 4th world champion title. George Russell (Mercedes) won the race ahead of his teammate Lewis Hamilton.
Once again crowned this Sunday, in Las Vegas, Max Verstappen therefore joined Alain Prost and Sebastian Vettel in winning this 4th world champion title. Indeed, as the 2024 season draws to a close, the Dutch driver (5th) ensured by finishing ahead of Lando Norris (6th) during this Grand Prix and is therefore officially crowned for the 4th time in a row, after 2021, 2022 and 2023. In the fight for the title, the Briton this time did not manage to pose any problems to his direct opponent this Sunday and must therefore surrender two races in the END. “ I am incredibly proud of everyone in the team and I feel relieved (after this 4th title) », Reacted Verstappen, at the foot of the famous Bellagio hotel. Having just been crowned, the driver of the Red Bull team then made an appointment for 2025 and intends to continue his hegemony in the future. Because, from now on, only Juan Manuel Fangio (five titles) and the duo Michael Schumacher – Lewis Hamilton (seven titles) have more coronations than him.
Russell victorious, the Alpine in the tough
As for the race, It was George Russell who won the Las Vegas Grand Prix this Sunday morning. In the “city of vice”, the Briton from the Mercedes team won the third victory of his career by ahead of his teammate Lewis Hamilton, while the two Ferraris follow behind with Carlos Sainz Jr on the podium in front of Charles Leclerc. Behind this quartet, we therefore find Verstappen ahead of Norris and Oscar Piastri. On the other hand, after shining in São Paulo (Brazil) at the beginning of November, Alpine had a much more complicated race because of the almost retirement of Pierre Gasly (on the 16th lap) and the 17th place of Esteban Ocon. In the constructors' standings, the French team therefore made the wrong move of the day and saw Haas overtake them, thanks to Nico Hülkenberg's 8th place. Over the next few weeks, in Doha (Qatar) then in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), the battle for the constructors' world championship title is likely to be thrilling between McLaren and Ferrari (608 points against 584).
