City of Lucerne – Dreilindenstrasse overall project: Update on construction progress and the end of construction

Construction work on Dreilindenstrasse began on February 19, 2024. In addition to the renovation of the surface, plant management work will also be carried out and the two bus stops Kapuzinerweg and Gärtnerstrasse will be redesigned in accordance with the Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities Act. The work in the Kapuzinerweg bus stop section up to and including the Abendweg junction could be completed by the end of summer 2024. Four of six stages in the upper section should be completed by the end of 2024. The Gärtnerstrasse bus stop, which was converted in accordance with the Equal Opportunities for People with Disabilities Act, can also be put into operation in December 2024.

However, the communicated completion date by the end of the year cannot be met. The bad weather in spring 2024 and an unplanned replacement of the foundation in the street in the upper section led to an extension of the construction period. During the construction work, clayey material came to light, which is not suitable as a substructure and therefore has to be replaced with a new foundation. The tight space in the upper area makes this additional work even more difficult. The plan is for the work to be completed by the end of March 2025. The completion date also depends on the weather, as paving installation and foundation replacement can only take place in dry weather. The temporary traffic regime will be maintained as before until the end of construction.
