Caution remains in order this afternoon on Breton roads, until 9 a.m. this Friday, November 22. If the snowflakes begin to melt in Ille-et-Vilaine and Côtes-d'Armor, the entire region is still placed on yellow alert by Météo France for risks linked to snowfall and ice until tomorrow morning.

This Thursday evening, “a few snowflakes could mix with the rain during periods of showers in Léon and the Monts d'Arrée“, warns the Finistère prefecture which specifies that in this massif, “tonight, the risk of refreezing of wet roads very locally“.

At 4:30 p.m., Enedis services identified 50,000 Breton homes without electricity, including 22,000 in Finistère, 20,000 customers in Morbihan, 5,000 in Ille-et-Vilaine and 3,000 in Côtes-d'Armor. .

The Caetano depression is still disrupting Brittany this afternoon: the entire region is placed on yellow alert for violent winds until 7 p.m.

The gusts are now hitting the northern coasts of the Breton coast and the Rennes basin.

The storm first started this morning on the coasts of Finistère and Morbihan.

This morning, peaks were recorded at 160 km/h on the island of Groix, 150 km/h in Belle-Île and 123 km/h in . In Finistère, they reached 155 km/h at La Pointe du Raz, 145 km/h in Penmarch and 111 km/h in .

Strong winds which brought down numerous obstacles on the tracks. Firefighters carried out around fifty interventions in Morbihan and around sixty in Finistère, including 26 for falling trees.

In Morbihan, significant tree falls on the RN 24 between Hennebont and Languidic seriously hamper traffic.

TER trains no longer run between Lorient and Auray due to a tree that fell on the tracks. Delays and cancellations are expected until 5:30 p.m. on several routes in Morbihan.

In Brest, parks, gardens, cemeteries and stadiums are not recommended for the public until the end of the day. Maritime connections with Belle-île and the Ile de Sein were interrupted, those between Molène and Ouessant delayed.

The ban on the movement of heavy goods vehicles issued by the prefect of the western defense and security zone has been lifted throughout the region. The 160 trucks blocked at the Carhaix area and at the Plouigneau area near Morlaix were able to get back on the road at midday, as were those parked near Fougères.

A little earlier in the morning, snow hit Côtes-d'Armor and Ille-et-Vilaine.

It also disrupted traffic on many roads this morning, in particular in the Fougères and Vitré sectors in Ille-et-Vilaine, as well as between Saint-Brieuc and Loudéac and in the Dinan sector in Côtes-d' Armor.

It caused at least 14 accidents in Ille-et-Vilaine and five in Côtes-d'Armor, for a dozen minor injuries in total.

All Breton departments remain on yellow snow and ice alert until 9 a.m. tomorrow, Friday November 22.
