Philadelphia, PA – Rain will dominate Philadelphia’s weather Thursday, with showers continuing into Friday. Meanwhile, areas of higher elevation may see snow accumulation.
According to the National Weather Service, rain is likely overnight, with breezy conditions and temperatures around 46°F. Showers will persist Thursday, with winds gusting up to 35 mph. Precipitation will taper off by Friday morning, but cloudy skies and cooler temperatures near 41°F are expected.
In higher elevations, particularly Carbon and Monroe counties on the Pocono Plateau, snow is forecasted due to colder conditions. The NWS highlighted the importance of elevation, noting dark brown-to-green zones on topographic maps signal significant snow potential. These areas could see measurable snowfall, impacting travel.
Philadelphia is expected to remain above freezing, avoiding snow but facing up to a quarter-inch of rainfall by Friday. Winds will continue to gust, creating potentially hazardous driving conditions.
Saturday will bring a reprieve, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 50°F. Residents in affected regions should prepare for weather changes and monitor updates.
