A few days before the release of the book tribute to the fifty years of “Splendid”, Thierry Lhermitte looked back with emotion on the hours following the death of Michel Blanc, during an interview with “Le Parisien” on November 17.
The book is due out November 21. To mark the fiftieth anniversary of “Splendid”, a work specially written by the members of the troupe will soon see the light of day. “The Splendid by the Splendid, we had so much fun! » traces the history of the cult saga, told by Josiane Balasko, Michel Blanc, Marie-Anne Chazel, Christian Clavier, Gérard Jugnot, Thierry Lhermitte and Bruno Moynot, themselves. Invited to promote the book this Sunday, Thierry Lhermitte spoke about Michel Blanc, in the columns of “Parisien”.
While this anniversary will be celebrated without Michel Blanc, who tragically died on October 3, the “Bronzés” actor had nevertheless participated in the writing. Writings that the latter considered as “love letters that we write to each other”. During the interview, Thierry Lhermitte remembered the moment when he sent the proof (copy before printing) to his comrade, three days before his disappearance. “What I said to Michel was recorded a month before his death, I was happy at the idea of him discovering it, but he must not have had time to read it […]. Has he read everything? I don’t know.”

The reasons for the discretion of the “Splendid” at the funeral
The 71-year-old actor then returned to the difficult hours which followed the death of Michel Blanc. “I didn’t sleep, I read everything he had written, it upset me,” he recalled, moved. Just as invested as his great friend in the texts, Thierry Lhermitte had never before discovered the stories of the first member of the Clan of Seven to have left the ship: “I found the texts so warm. At first, I only read what I had written to check the bullshit,” he concluded.

Thierry Lhermitte also spoke about the discretion of “Splendid” following the funeral, where five of the six friends gathered between laughter and tears, in honor of Michel Blanc, on October 10. Despite some tributes on their social networks after the ceremony, the actors chose to mourn away from the cameras. “We didn’t want to. We are not forced to share our pain. I don’t feel any obligation of any kind, especially in the heat of the moment,” explained Thierry Lhermitte.
