Michel Hazanavicius' first animated film, “The Most Precious of Goods”, will be released on Wednesday November 20 in cinemas, a story adapted from a tale about the Shoah. Meeting with the director.
Michel Hazanavicius exhibits his drawings for the first time at the Cinéma gallery in Paris. These are the preparatory sketches for his first animated film, The most valuable commodity. “It was the tool, undoubtedly, which allowed us to try to be at the right distance from things.explains the director.
For the narrator, he chose the voice of Jean-Louis Trintignant. “Seeing this old actor, (…) with this voice which is one of the most beautiful in French cinema, saying this text, there was something of the order of a moral testament”, continues Michel Hazanavicius.
The latter had however declared that he would not make a film on the Shoah. “In a way, I didn't make a film about the Shoah, I made a film about the Righteous, about the people who were precisely the antipode of the extermination of the Jews, since they protected“, argues the director. Before concluding: “[Le film] tells us that in any circumstance, we can make the choice of dignity and humanity.”
