Mike Tyson lost on points in his match against Jake Paul. The former champion’s habit of biting his glove attracted attention and reminded him of his past scandal.
Legendary boxer Mike Tyson was defeated on points in his big match against Jake Paul in Dallas. In the eight-round fight, Tyson failed to be effective against his opponent starting from the third round. An interesting behavior exhibited by Tyson throughout the match attracted the attention of the audience: He was constantly biting his left glove.
Tyson: “It’s my habit to bite my glove”
After the match, Tyson himself explained this habit. In an interview with the famous sports journalist Ariel Helwani, he said, “Biting my glove is my fighting habit. “It’s a kind of biting urge,” he said. Tyson stated that there is no medical reason for this behavior, it is just a unique feature.
This behavior reminded him of a memorable incident in Tyson’s past. In his match with Evander Holyfield on June 28, 1997, the famous boxer bit his opponent’s ear, tearing off a piece of it, and was disqualified. This event was the turning point in Tyson’s career.
Tyson is considering getting back into the ring
Despite the defeat, Mike Tyson gave the signal to continue his career. Speaking after the match, Tyson said: “I don’t know if I will fight more, it all depends on the situation. “But I don’t think this is my last match,” he said. Evaluating his own performance, he added: “I was just here to fight. I didn’t prove anything to anyone, only to myself. “I am happy with what I did.”
His opponent, Jake Paul, praised Tyson: “Mike is a legend, he is an icon. “It’s a great honor to fight him.”
It looks like Tyson’s love for the ring is not over yet.
