Over 4,500 spectators attended the round of 16 in the Berlin State Cup between BFC Dynamo and district league team Delay Sports. The underdog then comes under heavy pressure.
Not Bundesliga club Union Berlin, nor second division team Hertha BSC: Berlin football fans were enthusiastic about a completely different club this weekend. On Saturday, district league team and influencer club Delay Sports challenged fourth division team BFC Dynamo in the Berlin Cup. But the heavy favorite turned out to be completely humorless and won the ultimately unequal duel 12-0. Dynamo thus moved into the quarter-finals of the national cup.

The district league team, which is currently in second place in the league, had vague hopes of a sensation. The club, co-founded by the two Twitch streamers and ex-footballers Elias Nerlich and Sidney Friede, caused one or two surprises in the previous rounds.
After wins against a ninth division team, an eighth division team, a seventh division team and most recently the sixth division team Polar Pinguin, it was now against the regional league team BFC Dynamo. But the dream of winning the Berlin State Cup and the associated participation in the first round of the DFB Cup ended abruptly.
Because of the great interest from spectators, the district league team waived its home rights, so that the cup game took place in Dynamo’s home sports forum Hohenschönhausen.

Dynamo handles Delay Sports
After just six minutes, the ball hit the outsider’s goal for the first time. BFC defender Karim El-Abed headed home from a corner. Delay Sports suffered the next goal from Kevin Lankford in the 19th minute. Just eleven minutes later the game was decided early after McMoordy Hüther made it 3-0. By half time the regional league team increased the lead to 5-0 after goals from Lankford (penalty) and Crosthwaite.
In the second round, the debacle for the amateur group continued. Dynamo increased after goals from Hüther (2), Rufat Dadashov and Ivan Knezevic within twelve minutes to 9:0.
Dynamo’s hunger for goals seemed to be satisfied for now. It took until the 77th minute before John Liebelt made the score double figures. Again Dadashov (83′) and Bennedikt Wüstenhagen (89′) completed the dozen.
