Thomas' elimination from Star Academy left the public in shock, but also Michael Goldman. The director of the singing school did not hide his disappointment at the students' decision to oust the one he considers to be one of the most authentic talents of this promotion.
Ce fourth bonus of the Star Academy kept all its promises in terms of emotion and suspense. The four candidates in danger faced off as a duo: Marine and Ulysse on one side, Thomas and Maïa on the other. To seduce viewers, the first ones performed with passion Everything I Do (I Do It for You) by Bryan Adams, while Thomas and Maïa set off on the legendary Song about my funny life by Véronique Sanson. If the two performances were able to touch the public, it was ultimately the duo of Marine and Ulysse which won their favors. The final face-to-face of Maïa and Thomas, on Casting by Christophe Maé, was then as intense as it is overwhelming. But ultimately, after two poignant interpretations, the academicians preferred to save the young singer, letting the Corsican leave the adventure. Overwhelmed by emotion, the candidate could not hold back his tears when saying goodbye, surrounded by his comrades who came to offer him a last hug.
Fortunately, to alleviate this painful moment, Nikos Aliagas had a big surprise in store to the young academician: the arrival on stage of Maylis, the first to be eliminated from the adventure but above all a student very close to Thomas. The reunion between the two candidates, marked by palpable emotion, offered the young Corsican a transition to the after Star Academy very gently. And beyond this lovely gift, it is a speech by Michael Goldman which touched Thomas's heart…
“The only advice I will give you and […] I won’t give it to everyone”: Michael Goldman disappointed by the elimination of Thomas, he shows him all his admiration
Once the curtain falls and the candidates return to the castleit is Michael Goldman, the director of the Star Academywho took the floor to express his incomprehension at this elimination. With strong words, he addressed Thomas, confessing his disappointment at seeing him leave so soon. “It’s all the more difficult because it’s perhaps the best week you’ve had at the castle. It makes me sad because Thomas, I think he's one of the most underrated students in the group.”he confided bitterly. For him, the candidate has authentic talent and a rare sensitivity which make him “an exceptional singer” et “a shocking kid”.
Michael Goldman also highlighted Thomas' particularly moving performance alongside Patrick Fiori, a few minutes earlier, a moment where, according to him, “all the emotion that this boy is capable of releasing” knew how to shine. Visibly affected by what he seems to see as an injustice, the director concluded: “The only advice I'm going to give you and frankly I'm not sure I'll give it to everyone, all the time: keep singing because you're really made for it”. Thomas is therefore perhaps leaving Star Academybut carries with him precious recognition, that of his director and all those who vibrated to the sound of his voice.
