Black Friday is coming soon, November 29: how to prepare for it

We are already seeing advertisements or invitations popping up here and there in the run-up to Black Friday. A promotional day, born in the United States, which takes place on the last Friday of November, therefore the 29th this year, with more or less attractive promotions, in a dozen days now.

franceinfo: It's better to prepare for this big sales day, a month before Christmas, Fanny?

Fanny Guinochet : Yes, but there are already plenty of promotions before the big day. You must have seen it. The brands are going wild, they are drawing now, they are fighting for you to spend with them, especially at a time when the budgets of the French are constrained.

But these brands also know that consumers spend on Black Friday. This allows you to prepare Christmas presents. Last year, according to an Enov study, two out of three French people made purchases at the time of the event, an increase of 15 points compared to 2020, four years ago, and a third of households spent more of 250 euros during Black Friday.

Is this Black Friday really worth it or not?

So it depends on the items, but yes, you can get great deals up to 50, 60% off. On this occasion, high-tech products, telephony and household appliances are traditionally highlighted. When it comes to clothing or shoes too, you can get good deals.

Last year, according to the Enov survey, clothing still represented almost half of purchases. Finally, games are in a good place, especially video games where you can have discounts, but not only that. You can find attractive prices on more classic games, board games or even dolls.

So there is plenty to do, and the temptation will be great?

So that's the risk, that's why the first thing to do is to set a budget, a limit, an envelope not to exceed so as not to give in to unnecessary promotions.

Also try to make a list in advance, so right away. What do you really need to target the articles that will be most useful to you? Is it a new computer or a new pair of shoes? Don't hesitate to compare between sites and stores, because Black Friday or not, there are sometimes still very significant differences.

And then obviously watch out for scams. In the fury of this type of event, you have a number of sites that are flourishing, fake sites with more attractive offers which will ultimately only be illusions.
