Kick-off for the February holidays! Those who want to treat themselves to a Valentine's Day getaway or hit the ski slopes without flying can now book their train tickets. The SNCF Voyageurs ticket office for the period from January 9 to March 30, 2025 opened this Wednesday, November 13, at 6 a.m.
Travelers who have decided to anticipate may have noticed something new: for the first time, SNCF Voyageurs is experimenting with opening ticket sales for TGV InOui journeys between Paris-Lyon, Paris-Marseille and Paris-Montpellier on a period of six months. This means that it is already possible, for these destinations, to book your train for trips from January 9 to July 4, 2025.

Reinforced lines
During the winter period and the February holidays (from February 8 to 24 for zone B, from February 15 to March 3 for zone C and from February 22 to March 10 for zone A), the SNCF also announces strengthening its connections towards the French massifs. “During periods of high demand, the TGV fleet is fully mobilized to respond to this busy period”specifies the railway company in a press release relayed by France3 .
The TGV offer between Paris and Bourg-Saint-Maurice or to the Maurienne valley will be strengthened in particular to “ensure service to ski resorts, particularly on weekends and during school holidays. »
The SNCF also reminds that the Intercités, in addition to being less expensive, also make it possible to reach the massifs, “day and night, for example by joining the Massif Central (Paris-Clermont-Ferrand or Paris-Aurillac), the Alps (Paris-Briançon) and the Pyrenees (Paris-Tarbes and Paris-Latour de Carol)”.
Other lines will allow those wishing to travel to the European mountains, including Switzerland (with TGV Lyria) and Italy.

Anticipation is the key word
As usual, first come first served. Certain lines are already victims of their popularity, notably those departing from Paris and destined for ski resorts. At 9 a.m. this morning, most of the trains connecting Paris to Chambéry on Saturday February 15 were, for example, already full.
The SNCF reminds us: only early risers will be able to benefit from the best prices. Because the more a train fills up, the more the bill climbs. This is the principle of yield managementt (dynamic prices), implemented more than 30 years ago, which allows prices to evolve mechanically with demand. From one hour to the next, the price of a ticket can explode, especially when there are ever more travelers, and particularly during school holidays.
