It was her debut at a major tournament and her first confrontation with darts great Michael van Gerwen. Noa-Lynn van Leuven had therefore taken into account a 5-0 defeat and that was also the case at the Grand Slam of Darts.
The 28-year-old Van Leuven had another chance to throw a 72 in Wolverhampton in the first leg against Van Gerwen, but he did not succeed and then the third-placed Van Gerwen quickly dealt with his compatriot.
This tournament is therefore a great measuring moment for the Beverwijkse. Gary Anderson and Ryan Joyce are the other opponents in group G. The Scot Anderson won the first game 5-1 against the Englishman Joyce.
Win for Wattimena
In group E, Jermaine Wattimena was too strong for the Belgian World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker 5-2. This puts Wattimena at the top of the group together with second-placed Englishman Michael Smith.
The 17-year-old English prodigy Luke Littler had no trouble beating the Irishman Keane Barry in group F: 5-0.
The best two darts players from each group qualify for the knockout phase. The Grand Slam of Darts lasts until November 17.
