Cars overturned, businesses flooded… The town of Cadaqués, in Catalonia, suffered serious damage during the night of Thursday to Friday, November 8. Fortunately, this time, no casualties were reported.
The streets of Cadaqués (Spain) transformed into a torrent. During the night of Thursday November 7 to Friday November 8, violent rains caused considerable damage in the Catalan city. Like the previous week in Valencia, the rains were torrential: 100 mm of water fell in a few hours. The residents woke up in shock: “It happened around 4 a.m., around 5 a.m., I came to see my car which was completely destroyed”deplores a young woman.
Around thirty cars were swept away by these flash floods, which offer a new spectacle of desolation, a week after the disaster which befell the Valencia region. The worst was avoided according to a trader: “If the sea water had risen as well, it could have been much more serious”she explains. No casualties have been reported. Further rain is expected in the Pyrénées-Orientales in the coming hours.
