The College of Economists held the award ceremony this Thursday at the Miramar Hotel, which was attended by the mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, who was preceded in his speech by the dean of the college institution, Manuel Méndez. . The secretary, Javier Font, proceeded to read the agreement of the Governing Board by which the distinctions were granted in recognition of the careers of the winners.
At the event, the gold medal for merit in economics was awarded to José Manuel Domínguez, current president of the Unicaja Foundation, for his career as professor of Public Finance at the University of Málaga. In addition, Bernardo Quintero, head of the Google Cybersecurity Center in Malaga, has been named an honorary member for his contribution to the city as the main architect of the technological giant's arrival in the provincial capital.
Finally, Juan Carlos Robles, former dean of economists, has been awarded the golden shield at the service of the collegiate institution, and his portrait has been presented, executed by the Malaga painter Carlos Puyet, which will be exhibited at the headquarters of the College, as has been tradition with the former deans. The event was closed by the president of the General Council of Economists of Spain, Valentín Pich.
