Number 1 series on Netflix, The Zen Murders ends its season 1 with a suspense which opens the door to a potential season 2. And if we are to believe the books from which the fiction is adapted, the sequel could have surprises in store for us that we thought were buried…
It is a rather unexpected success which surrounds the German series The Zen Murders. After stealing the number 1 spot in the top of the most watched series of the moment in Beauty in Blackthe latest novelty from Tyler Perry, German-speaking fiction even stands up to season 2 of The Diplomatyet a real hit during the broadcast of its first season. The bookstore success of Karsten Dusse's trilogy, from which the series is adapted, is not enough to explain the phenomenon alone. It's a safe bet that Netflix subscribers appreciated the mix of genres between serial killer and personal development brought together by Björn (Tom Schilling), a lawyer who dabbles in mindfulness meditation and understands that the best way to to relax is still to murder those who pollute one's life.
The Zen Murders : soon a season 2 for the Netflix series?
Attention, spoilers. At the end of season 1, Björn succeeds in covering up the murder of Dragan, his client and mafia godfather, by making it appear that he is hidden away from everything. He even manages the feat of putting his men in his pocket and at his orders, and eliminates Toni, the only one to have doubts, as well as Möller, the policeman on his trail. The only problem is that Boris, the opposing gang leader, wants to see Dragan in the flesh. Björn convinces him that he must take shelter in the same place as Dragan to escape the police and puts him in the trunk of his car, using the same procedure as for Dragan's murder. At the end of the season, Björn is officially an independent lawyer and he has managed to take charge of the two mafia gangs that could have had his skin. But how could this story end? The plot therefore allows us to consider a season 2, which has not yet been confirmed by Netflix. But this season 1 being adapted from volume 1 of Karsten Dusse's books, there is still material to complete Björn's story.
The Zen Murders : this turnaround that the books announce for season 2
If the series were ever renewed, it's a safe bet that the storyline would again be based on the books. And volume 2 begins with surprising news for fans: while Björn had locked Boris in a safe and had cut off his finger in order to recover his prints and make people believe that he was still alive, in exactly the same way that for Dragan, we thought Boris was definitely screwed up. But in volume 2, we discover that Boris is not dead but that he is sequestered in the basement of the daycare… An imprudence which could cost Björn dearly if the old mafioso's clan discovered the trick. roses.
