Aston Villa will be aiming to make it four wins from four when they take on Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Only one other team has made a 100% start to their Champions League campaign and Liverpool continued that by outclassing Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday at Anfield.
The Reds are in a different head space compared to those from the Midlands because they are sitting top of the Premier League table.
Aston Villa conceded four to Tottenham over the weekend, so morale is low and they will need to pick themselves up in Belgium.
Unai Emery will have some big calls to make because he has a fair few players knocking on his door and wanting to start.
In some cases, it’s going to be forced because there will be at least one change from Aston Villa’s defeat to Spurs.
Ian Maatsen and Diego Carlos to start for Aston Villa against Club Brugge
Starting with the defence, as mentioned above, there will be at least one forced change because Matty Cash is injured, so he won’t be available.
That probably hints towards Ezri Konsa moving to right-back and Diego Carlos coming in at the heart of the defence, alongside Pau Torres.
The other change could also see Lucas Digne dropping out and Ian Maatsen coming in after his impressive performance against Bologna last time out.
Jaden Philogene and Boubacar Kamara to start for Villa against Brugge
Emery isn’t one to overreact to a defeat, so you wonder if he will stick to making minimal changes or he will make wholesale changes?!
Either way, Boubacar Kamara needs to come into the Villa XI to add some much-needed defensive bite to a team that, in the Premier League, is struggling to defend.
And then Jaden Philogene could also come into the XI for Jacob Ramsey to add some freshness to attack, with Leon Bailey remaining on the bench as he struggles for form.
Here is how Villa could line up in Belgium against Club Brugge:
GK: Emi Martinez, RB: Ezri Konsa, RCB: Diego Carlos, LCB: Pau Torres, LB: Ian Maatsen, CDM: Boubacar Kamara, CM: Amadou Onana. CM: Youri Tielemans, CAM: Morgan Rogers, FWD: Jaden Philogene, ST: Ollie Watkins.
