Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday congratulated Donald Trump on his “historic” return to the White House, in addition to extremist Israeli ministers who expressed their joy over his victory.
“Your historic return to the White House gives the United States a new beginning, and renews commitment to the great alliance between Israel and the United States,” Netanyahu said in a post on the X website.
In the same context, two far-right ministers in Netanyahu’s government welcomed Trump’s victory, and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir wrote on the X website, “Yes, may God protect Trump.”
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich also said, “May God protect Israel, may God protect America.”
Another member of the government, Culture Minister Miki Zohar, said, “We look forward to the next four years.”
As for the new Israeli Defense Minister, Yisrael Katz, he said, addressing Trump, “We will work together to strengthen the alliance between America and Israel, recover the hostages, and stand firm to defeat the axis of evil led by Iran,” he said.
Heads of state and officials also congratulated Trump on his victory, while other countries commented on the event, as follows:
- Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Wednesday that Donald Trump’s victory in the US elections might be bad news for Ukraine, adding that it is not yet clear to what extent Trump will reduce US funding for the war.
- French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated Trump after his victory, and wrote on the X platform, “Congratulations to President Donald Trump,” expressing his “readiness to work together” in light of “respect and ambition.”
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Trump on his victory, which he described as “amazing.”
- NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte congratulated Trump, stressing that he would keep the alliance “strong.”
- “(Trump) is heading for a nice win,” Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban wrote on his Facebook page.
- The Iranian Tasnim News Agency quoted Iranian government spokeswoman Fatima Mohajerani as saying that the livelihoods of Iranians will not be affected by the US elections, after Trump announced his victory in the presidential elections.
